Gas is the Ether cost paid to get an Ethereum message or transaction executed by the network.
Gas allows miners to be compensated for the computational resources they provide, thereby incentivizing computational efficiency. Currently, gas is pegged to ETH, with 1 gas = 0.00001 ETH.
By varying gas, users can input the amount they are willing to pay to complete a transaction. For a guide on accepted gas prices, please visit ETH Gas Station.
In the Jwallet, gas is optimized on a token by token basis, the user is given a “Priority” parameter, in which he or she can specify the transaction priority (High, Medium, Low), and the speed in which it will be committed to the blockchain.
